Cody Jinks is a popular American country music icon from Denton, Texas. He is famous for quickly reaching No. 4 on the
Billboard
Country Albums chart in 2016 with his album
I'm Not the Devil
. This record is noted for selling 11,300 copies on the first week alone. It is not surprising that
Rolling Stone
rated
I'm Not the Devil
as one of the best country albums in 2016. All of Cody's hard work and passion to produce heartrending country music paid off because in 2018 he achieved almost the same feat as he climbed up to the No. 2 spot on the same country albums chart. Cody Jinks' popularity is evident because his fans religiously follow him to all the musical festivals that he has graced across the country.
This singer-songwriter began his musical journey at the age of 16 with his father's guitar. He is candid enough to tell that he actually started out as a lead singer in a thrash metal band called Silas, which was then redubbed as Unchecked Aggression. On top of that, he also played as the group's lead guitarist. The heavy metal group, unfortunately, disbanded in 2005, and Cody found himself taking a one-year hiatus from music. When he came back, he found himself playing country music, which is a far cry from the head-banging vibe of heavy metal. However, Cody says this is really his musical influence since he was a small child, so transitioning to country music was natural, easy and fun. He felt more passion for this genre and began releasing country music albums in 2008.
