''The Clearwater Threshers are the Class-A Advanced affiliate of Major League Baseball's Philadelphia Phillies. The franchise dates back to the 1985 season and has been an affiliate of the Phillies since its inception. Originally known as the Clearwater Phillies, it took the franchise a few years to experience measurable success in the Florida State League, but when the success came, it came in a wave. The Phillies made the Florida State League playoffs for three consecutive seasons between 1991 and 1993, appearing in two league championships during that span. The third time was a charm as the 1993 squad put up a 75-60 record and won the franchise's first championship. It was announced that the 2003 season would be the team's last as the Clearwater Phillies. After a new ballpark was built across the street from their existing stadium, the organization moved and took on a new moniker, the Clearwater Threshers. The Threshers won their second Florida State League title in 2007 and are presently in a run of three playoff berths in the last five seasons. Get your 2020 Clearwater Threshers tickets at StubHub.'
'Some of the most legendary names in Philadelphia Phillies history spent time in Clearwater on their way to the City of Brotherly Love. Scott Rolen, Jimmy Rollins, Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Pat Burrell and Cole Hamels are all Clearwater alumni who were major contributors to the Philadelphia Phillies Major League squad's success.'
'The Clearwater Threshers have named Pat Borders as the team's new manager for the 2020 season. Borders enjoyed a successful 17-year career as a player. He played for nine different teams before getting into coaching. Borders may be best known as the 1992 World Series MVP when he was the catcher for the Toronto Blue Jays teams that went to the Fall Classic in 1992 and 1993. Borders made five postseasons as a player and was a member of the Team USA in the 2000 Olympics. Before being named the manager for the Clearwater Threshers, Borders spent five seasons as the manager of the Williamsport Crosscutters. With the Crosscuts, he posted a career record of 186-190 and guided the team to the playoffs in 2015, which was his first season as a coach or manager.'
'Spectrum Field has been the home of the Clearwater Threshers since 2004. The Threshers share the stadium with their parent organization, the Philadelphia Phillies who use it as a Spring Training facility. Since the Major League squad uses the stadium as well, it feels more like a Spring Training stadium than a Minor League facility. That's probably why Spectrum Field has led the Florida State League in average attendance every year since 2011. The 8,500-seat stadium offers a traditional seating bowl as well as grassy berms beyond the outfield walls and a multitiered patio area that fans can enjoy the game from.'

The Clearwater Threshers have a longstanding rivalry with the nearby
Dunedin Blue Jays.
The two franchises have been rivals since Dunedin launched its team for the 1990 season. Today, the Threshers and the Blue Jays battle for North Division supremacy in the Florida State League.
