'

The CBS Sports Classic is an annual showcase for some of the most historic teams in NCAA Division I men’s basketball. Every year, the same four teams compete: the

North Carolina Tar Heels

, the

Kentucky Wildcats

, the

Ohio State Buckeyes

and the

UCLA Bruins

. Together, the schools account for 26 NCAA Tournament championships, numerous All-Americans and more than 8,000 combined wins. The CBS Sports Classic changes venues every year, but it tends to rotate between some of the largest arenas in the country. In 2014 and 2018, the event took place at the

United Center

in Chicago, with a near sold-out crowd of more than 19,000. Other venues have included the

Barclays Center

in Brooklyn, the

T-Mobile Arena

in Las Vegas and the

Smoothie King Center

in New Orleans. The CBS Sports Classic takes place toward the end of December, typically anywhere between the 17th and the 23rd of the month. If you want to attend a game, then you can purchase CBS Sports Classic tickets at the leading online marketplace, StubHub.

'

'What is the format of the CBS Sports Classic?'

'The CBS Sports Classic schedule is in the format of a simple double-header. Two teams face off against each other in back-to-back games. However, the matchups change every year, so one team will cycle through the other teams every three years on average. Since the CBS Sports Classic is not a tournament, there is no winner declared at the end of it. However, the results of the games do count toward the teams' overall season records. It also gives teams a chance to build their résumés for the postseason tournament.'

'Where does the 2019 CBS Sports Classic take place?'

'

The 2019 version of the CBS Sports Classic will be held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Opened in 2016, the 18,000-seat arena is the home of the

Vegas Golden Knights

of the NHL. Apart from standard seating, the arena has loge boxes, terrace tables, luxury suites and more. If you get hungry during the game, then you can check out numerous bars, restaurants and vendors, including Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop, Pizza Forte, Shake Shack, Rollin’ Smoke Barbecue, Tail and Fin and more. Premium guests can also visit some of the exclusive lounges and loft areas around the arena.

'

'What were the results of the CBS Sports Classic game from the previous season?'

'During the 2018 CBS Sports Classic, No. 15 Ohio State beat unranked UCLA by a score of 80-66 while No. 19 Kentucky beat No. 9 North Carolina 80-72. Ohio State guard C.J. Jackson scored 22 points in the win over the Bruins while guard Keldon Johnson led all Wildcat scorers with 21 points.'

'What is a CBS Sports Classic game like?'

'Because the game takes place at a neutral venue designed for professional sports teams, it may not have the typical home collegiate basketball atmosphere fans are used to. However, thanks to the history and championship pedigree of the teams involved, the CBS Sports Classic has the feel of a major event. It is one of the few early season college basketball events to feature matchups between top teams in a neutral venue.'

'Who is playing in the latest CBS Sports Classic?'

'The 2019 CBS Sports Classic features a matchup between North Carolina and UCLA, followed by Ohio State and Kentucky. In the AP preseason poll, Kentucky and North Carolina were ranked No. 2 and No. 9, respectively, while Ohio State was ranked No. 18. UCLA did not enter the season in the Top 25.'
