The Bulldogs men's basketball team appeared in the NCAA tournament 16 times and has an overall record of 24 wins and 16 losses in the tournament. It reached the NCAA title game twice in consecutive years (2010, 2011). In 2010, it played Duke University in the finals, and in 2011, it played UConn. The basketball team established a philosophy known as The Butler Way, which was then adopted by the entire athletic program and the school. When the Hinkle Fieldhouse opened in 1928 it had a capacity of 15,000 people. At the time of its opening, it was the largest basketball arena in the United States. The Hinkle Fieldhouse currently has a capacity of 9,100. The arena was featured in the classic basketball movie
