The Brooklyn Nets have a well-known, crosstown rivalry with the New York Knicks.

The Brooklyn Nets play at Barclays Center, which opened in downtown Brooklyn, New York, in 2012, with a seating capacity of 17,732 for basketball. This multi-purpose arena is home to the Nets and the WNBA’s New York Liberty. It’s architecturally interesting outside with a green roof and a huge oculus that extends over the main entrance, ringed with video screens. The arena has an intimate seating design and two lighting systems inside the bowl, one that is used only for the Nets. Barclays Center’s opening in 2012 coincided with the return of professional sports to Brooklyn, with the Nets becoming the borough’s first major sports team since the Brooklyn Dodgers moved to LA in 1957.
