Colorado's Boulder Theatre is known for its art deco design and being the go-to venue for performances in the Denver Metro area. The theater opened its doors to

musicals

, concerts and other live performances in 1906. It was originally known as the Curran Opera House named after its owner James Curran. It was purchased by the Fox Theater Company and was renamed to Boulder Theatre. The theater company is responsible for the art deco style of the building. Its faade was named as one of the state's historic landmarks. In the early 1990s, the theater closed for a year before it was bought by New Hope Communications.
