'Boston University Terriers Hockey Tickets'

'

The Boston University Terriers have one of the oldest ice hockey programs in the NCAA. The first Terriers team took to the ice in its inaugural 1917-1918 season under the leadership of Edgar Burkhardt. Since then, Boston University has built an incredible record on the ice. The Terriers have made it to the NCAA tournament more than 35 times. Between 2014-15 and 2017-18, the Terriers had four consecutive seasons with 20-plus-wins. Today, the ice hockey program is in transition. Under the leadership of coach Albie O'Connell, the Terriers have been rebuilding. Notably, the team placed second in the 2020

Boston Beanpot

tournament held in February. The Terriers lost in double overtime to Northeastern but fans and players alike remain hungry for another win. Get your tickets to see the Boston University Terriers hockey team on the ice at StubHub.

Agganis Arena

on the campus of Boston University. This building opened in 2005 with a Terriers hockey win against Minnesota as the inaugural event. This building features amenities like six concession stands, loge suites and two media rooms.

'

'Who is the head coach of the Boston University ice hockey team?'

'Albie O'Connell is the current head coach of the Boston University Terriers. He was appointed in 2018. Like many Terriers coaches over the years, O'Connell played his own college hockey at BU and served as captain of the Terriers squad during the 1998-99 season. During his time as a player, BU made it to the Frozen Four twice: once in 1996 and again in 1997. O'Connell was drafted by the New York Islanders and went on to play hockey in the ECHL and BNL. O'Connell returned to Boston University as an assistant coach in 2014, after stints at schools that included Holy Cross and Niagara. In his first full season at BU, O'Connell posted a record of 16-18-4.'

'Have the Terriers ever won an NCAA championship?'

'

The Terriers have won five NCAA championships over the years. Their first title came in 1971, and they followed it up with another in 1972. The Terriers' most recent Division I NCAA championship win came in 2009. In 2015, the Terriers faced off against the

Providence College Friars

in the title game, losing by a score of 4-3.

'

'Who are some notable Terriers?'

'The Boston University Terriers have developed plenty of professional-caliber players over the years. Athletes including Tony Amonte, Keith Tkachuk, Ray Whitney and Jack Eichel all played their college hockey at Boston University. Additionally, longtime Terriers coach Jack Parker is a legend in American hockey. He coached at Boston University from 1973 to 2003 and was key in keeping the Terriers program at the top of the NCAA for many years.'

'Do the Boston University Terriers have any rivals?'

'

BU's most heated and perhaps most natural rivalry is with the

Boston College Eagles

, partly because of their close proximity. In fact, this is often called The Green Line rivalry because the two schools are just a few stops apart on the Boston metro system’s green line. These teams have played in all kinds of faceoffs, from NCAA championship games to the Boston Beanpot tournaments and standard Hockey East matchups during regular season play.
