''The Boca Raton Bowl began in 2014 and takes place every year on the campus of Florida Atlantic University. It is an NCAA Division 1 sanctioned postseason game that includes teams from Conference USA, The American Athletic Conference and the mid-American Conference. The Boca Raton Bowl was originally sponsored by outdoor clothing and sporting goods company, Marmot. In 2017, Cheribundi began sponsoring the Boca Raton Bowl, renaming the bowl to the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl. This was shortened to the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl in 2018. ESPN Events owns the Boca Raton Bowl, and it is a part of ESPN’s annual “Bowl Week.” Billionaire businessman Kenneth Langone was named “Lifetime Commissioner” of the Boca Raton Bowl in 2016. 'The FAU Stadium is on the north end of Florida Atlantic Universities' main campus and has a seating capacity of 29,419. Construction on the FAU Stadium began in 2010, with the official opening happening in 2011. In addition, to be the home of the Florida Atlantic Owls football team and the Boca Raton Bowl, the field also hosts the Major League Lacrosse Florida launch. In honor of the founding coach of the Owls football program, Howard Schellenberger, the playing surface was named Howard Schellenberger Field in 2014.'
'At the first Boca Raton Bowl, Marshall faced off against Northern Illinois. These teams had a history, having played against each other eight times previously. Northern Illinois had led in wins, at 4-3. Marshall came in with something to prove and won the game 52–23. In 2016, Western Kentucky and Memphis played against each other for the first time since 1956. It was a tied series between the teams, but that didn't last long as Western Kentucky took the game 51–31. In 2017 the Florida Atlantic Owls made it to the Boca Raton Bowl, getting to play on its home turf. The team faced off against Akron and completely wiped the floor with them in a game that ended with a score of 50–3.'
