Bayside Tickets

Bayside is an American rock band that formed in 2000 in Queens, NYC. They’re known for their guitar-driven melodies with elements of punk and alternative rock, as well as darker, emotional lyrics that often earn them an emo genre classification.

The band name came from a trip frontman Anthony Raneri and former guitarist Mike Kozak took to a New Found Glory show in hopes of giving them a demo CD. Needing a name, and having just passed the Bayside train station, they wrote “Bayside” on the CD.

After the release of their debut album, Sirens and Condolences, and another lineup change that brought bassist Nick Ghanbarian, the band released their self-titled sophomore album with Victory Records in September of 2005. While touring in support of the album the following month, the band’s van hit a patch of ice and flipped over, killing drummer John “Beatz” Holohan and severely injuring Ghanbarian. Raneri and guitarist Jack O'Shea, who escaped relatively uninjured, finished the tour with an acoustic set. The tour’s final performance was recorded and released in February of 2006 as a live DVD with an accompanying 10-song EP simply titled Acoustic, which included “Winter,” a tribute to Holohan.

Drummer Chris Guglielmo joined the band and they released their third album, the aptly-titled The Walking Wounded, a year later, which focused on coping with the recent loss and moving forward. Since then, the band released 2008’s Shudder, 2011’s Killing Time with Wind-up Records, the 2012 self-released EP Covers: Volume 1, along with 2014’s Cult and 2016’s Vacancy through Hopeless Records.
