Avenged Sevenfold made their debut in 2001 but didn't start gaining much of a following until they played

Vans Warped Tour

in 2002. They really took off with the 2005 release of

City of Evil

, which peaked at No. 30 on the

Billboard

200 chart. Avenged Sevenfold has won a VMA, four Loudwire Music Awards, 13 Golden God Awards and many others. In addition to their regular touring to support new album releases, Avenged Sevenfold has performed at multiple festivals throughout the years.

Avenged Sevenfold released their first studio album

Sounding the Seventh Trumpet

through Good Life Recordings. After some road bumps, including the release of the album being repeatedly pushed back and losing two bassists, A7X left and signed with Hopeless Records instead. They re-released

Sounding the Seventh Trumpet

, this time gaining more traction and landing a spot on the Vans Warped Tour lineup. They slowly got more of a following in 2003 after releasing

Waking the Fallen

, which resulted in the band switching labels again, this time to Warner Records. The band gained popularity in 2005 with

City Of Evil

, and they won a VMA for Best New Artist in a Video for Bat Country. For that award, they beat out other popular acts like

Rihanna

and

Panic! At The Disco.

The band continued its journey with the release of their fourth self-titled album, which contained some of the band's most notable songs to date, including Almost Easy, Afterlife and A Little Piece Of Heaven. During the writing process for the band's next album, Avenged Sevenfold's drummer called The Rev was found dead in his home, and the band considered disbanding but returned to the studio just two months later to record the 2010 album called

Nightmare

. This album debuted at No. 1 on the

Billboard

200 chart, and it had a No. 1 single before the album was even released. In 2016, A7X released

The Stage

, which got the band its first Grammy nomination.
