'The Auburn Tigers' basketball team has been a dominant force on the court since their inaugural season in 1906 as the Alabama Polytechnic Institute Tigers. It is an original member of the Southeastern Conference, which formed in 1933, and it has a storied history with many noteworthy achievements. The Tigers earned their first SEC title in 1960 with the team that was called Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs because of Coach Joel Eaves' white hair and his shorter-than-average players. During its time on the court, the Tigers team has won the right to play in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Basketball Tournament 10 times as of 2019. It also made the NCAA Final Four in 2019, the first such appearance for any school in Alabama. During the NCAA tournament, the team beat New Mexico State by one point, won against Kansas 89-75, beat North Carolina 97-80 and conquered Kentucky with an overtime score of 77-71.
