The Atlanta Hawks franchise was founded in 1946 as the Buffalo Bisons in NY state, before moving to Illinois just 38 days later to play as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks, which was the team’s name when they merged with the NBA in 1949. In 1951 the team moved and became the Milwaukee Hawks, until another move in 1955 saw them play as the St. Louis Hawks. In 1968 the team moved to their longstanding home in Atlanta, GA and became the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks have won 12 Division titles, and appeared in 1 NBA Finals game, winning that Championship. The Atlanta Hawks biggest rivals are the Boston Celtics.
