Arthur Ashe Stadium gave the US Open a world-class venue when it opened in 1997 in Flushing in the borough of Queens in New York, N.Y. Named for the graceful and trailblazing tennis legend, Arthur Ashe Stadium holds a seating capacity of just over 23,000 and is the largest tennis venue in the world. The stadium replaced the older Louis Armstrong Stadium next door and cemented the U.S. Open's place as one of the preeminent world tennis tournaments. The retractable roof, added in 2016, allows fans to watch tennis without fear of the weather delays that used to impact the tournament. The stadium is in use for two weeks in late August and early September. Pick up your tickets for Arthur Ashe Stadium events at StubHub today.
The stadium is located in the same general vicinity as Citi Field. Fans do not have to brave the New York City traffic and pay the bridge tolls to get there because public transit goes near the stadium. The 7 train has a stop at Willets Point. From there, it is about a 10-minute walk to the stadium. Riders can switch to the 7 train at Times Square.
Three major parking zones surround the stadium. The Yellow Zone is located to the west of the stadium and offers general parking. The Orange and Blue Zones are overflow areas located to the east.
Be prepared to eat at a tennis tournament in New York. The premium dining options include Mojito Restaurant & Bar and Champions Bar & Grill. Food Village, located near the center of the venue, houses all the concessions. Fans watching the U.S. Open love their burgers - nearly 100,000 pounds of beef are consumed over the two weeks of the tournament.
With nearly 24,000 seats, there are many options to choose from. Courtside seats are considered the best, but they also cost the most. The loge level combines affordability with good views of the court. The stadium has many premium options including luxury suites as well as premium seats you can purchase in an all-inclusive package. Fans who want more shade should purchase tickets in the west area of the stadium.
This is New York so finding something to do before the match is easy. Flushing Meadows Park with its museums is right next door to Arthur Ashe Stadium. Manhattan is just a half hour train ride away and fans can enjoy Times Square with all of its attractions and entertainment right before or after boarding the 7 train.
