''Originally nicknamed name the Owls, the Arizona State Sun Devils football team was formed in 1896. The Arizona State Sun Devils are the official football team at Arizona State University. The team competes in the South Division of the Pac-12 Conference as well as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Football Bowl Subdivision. The Sun Devils' current head coach is Herm Edwards. Edwards, a longtime NFL coach and ESPN analyst, was announced as head coach in 2018. Before Herm, Todd Graham was the head coach. Graham led the Sun Devils to many victories from 2012 to 2017. In Graham's first season, the team had their first winning session since 2007. The Sun Devils defeated the Navy Midshipmen at the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl that same year. Todd was given the Pac-12 Coach of the Year Award in 2013 for his efforts.
