Orpheum Theater - Omaha

'Orpheum Theatre Tickets'

'

The Creighton Theater opened in 1895 with the play,

The Masqueraders.

The Creighton Theater was sold in 1898 to the Orpheum Vaudeville Circuit and ultimately became the Orpheum Theatre in 1906. In 1927, the original Orpheum was replaced with a new and larger building that cost two million dollars. This is the building in use today. The Orpheum remained popular for the next 20 years, but by 1971 it had closed. In 1972, the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben purchased the Orpheum and renovated it to be used by the Omaha Symphony, Opera Omaha and Ballet Omaha. For the Orpheum's 90th anniversary in 2017, the building was refurbished and improved. The entire Orpheum Theatre is grandly imagined, with the Slosburg Hall proscenium theater being a fine example of glamorous French Renaissance and the lobby ticket booth featuring gold elements, three original Czech crystal chandeliers and scrolled ironwork. Modern shows at the Orpheum have included

School of Rock

,

The Wizard of Oz

and

The Temptations
