The Beacon Theatre was built in 1929 in an Art Deco style by Walter Ahlschlager. Designated a New York landmark by the NYC Landmarks Preservation Committee in 1979, it has been providing memorable entertainment to New York City ever since. The theater was extensively renovated in 2009, with a focus on restoring the Beacon to its original grandeur in an effort that has won the venue several architectural awards.
