Starlight Theatre
Starlight Theatre events in Kansas City, Missouri, take place under the stars in one of the last two remaining outdoor venues in the United States considered to be self-producing. The theater originated in 1925 when the Queen of Romania visited Kansas City. Local talent put on a performance for her, and a suitable venue needed to be built. Cameras and any type of recording equipment are not allowed to be used during any segment of all Broadway or indoor shows.
Complimentary lawn parking is provided for holders of five-show Broadway season tickets. They may upgrade to paved parking for a small fee. Ticket holders for six or more Broadway season shows or holders or Producer's Circle season ticket holders are eligible for free paved parking. For the summer Broadway/Concert season, lawn or paved parking spaces can be purchased for a small fee. Attendees to the Fall/Winter Indoor Series may park for free at the Starlight Theatre's east side in the paved Zebra Lot.
In addition to restaurant-style dining options with buffet and table service, the Starlight Theatre provides a wide range of food choices for patrons. Multiple concession stands are available as well as portable vendors.
The Starlight Theatre provides personnel to assist wheelchair-confined guests to their seats before the show and back to their drop-off point after the show. Handicapped-accessible parking spaces are available as well and shuttle services are provided to transport guests from their parking areas to the theater.
The Starlight Theatre is located within the Swope Park, consisting of 1,800 acres of woodland walking trails, golf courses, and other activities for people of all ages. The Kansas City Zoo is also located nearby, featuring 202 acres containing more than 1,000 animals.
