Located in the Cass Corridor District of Downtown Detroit, the Detroit Masonic Temple holds the title for being the largest type of building of its kind in the world. The Detroit Masonic Temple is home to multiple Masonic organizations, as well as the York Rite College. It offers a few public areas including three theatres and three banquet hall ballrooms. Ground-breaking of the temple began on Thanksgiving Day in 1920. Made mostly of limestone, the neo-Gothic building stands 210 feet tall and has 16 floors. The public auditorium hosts productions such as concerts, Broadway shows, and other events. It boasts one of the largest stage areas in the US and has hosted

. The Detroit Masonic Temple is listed in the
National Register of Historic Places
. You can get Detroit Masonic Temple tickets at StubHub.
Originally, the Detroit Masonic Temple seating capacity was around 5,000 seats. Unfortunately, about 600 of those seats were in poor sight line to the stage. Many were removed or simply not used. Currently, there are 4,404 seats within a combined main level and balcony level in the horseshoe-shaped auditorium.
There is limited on-site parking, but you can find multiple parking lots within a block of the Detroit Masonic Temple.
You can access the Detroit Masonic Temple from many locations inside and outside the city by bus. The closest stop is 200 feet from the temple at Temple and 2nd. Though the temple is just outside of the Detroit People Mover loop, you can still access other areas of downtown by cab, bus, or shared ride services.
Though there is no public dining services within the temple, you have many cuisine options within walking distance. Founders Brewing Company offers a selection of craft beers, appetizers and entrees. The Detroit Shipping Company is a unique experience with food-truck-style eating in a building made completely of old shipping containers. Within the same block, you can also find higher-end restaurants like Plato that specialize in beer, wine and spirits.
Downtown Detroit has much to offer everyone. The Temple Bar is just across the street from the Detroit Masonic Temple venue. It is a friendly dive-bar where you can find some of the best local beers and locals. The temple is also close to the MGM Grand Casino and Hotel. You could even work your way down to the Detroit Riverwalk to enjoy views of Canada across the Detroit River.
