Louisville Palace
The Louisville Palace is a music venue in Downtown Louisville and is one of the centerpieces of the city's vibrant theater district. With a seating capacity of 2,800, it was opened up in 1928. Some of its architectural features include arcades, balconies, turrets and a vaulted ceiling with over 100 sculptures. The theater was designed by John Ebersen, a European-born, American architect who was responsible for designing hundreds of theaters and other spaces. With its re-dedication in 1994, the Louisville Palace, also known as the Palace Theatre, has become a premier venue for any musicians coming into town, such as
Kings of Leon
and
the Dave Matthews Band
. It also hosts regular movie nights, showing a mix of classics and modern films. Get your tickets for your favorite Louisville Palace events at StubHub.
It has a central location on South Fourth Street, by the intersection with West Chestnut Street. It's next to many other historic buildings, including The Mercury Ballroom and the Brown Theatre. Many buses run through this area of the city, making stops along West Broadway, Third Street, and Chestnut Street, among others.
There are concessions stands at the center that offer snacks and drinks for sale. Alcoholic beverages are sold beginning one hour prior to the start of the show as well as during the show.
Louisville Palace seats are divided into different sections. At the orchestra level, you'd be closer to the stage. The Loge and Balcony are up above; this section is more steeply sloped to allow for better sight lines.
Louisville Palace premium seating tickets are available. These come with access to the Marquee Lounge, a private entrance, premium parking and a dedicated concierge service.
This lounge is located on the second floor of the theater. It's decked out with cool furnishings and has an intimate atmosphere. Louisville Palace meter parking is available on the streets surrounding the Palace. Meters are only monitored until 6 pm, Monday-Saturday. There are also several parking lots and garages nearby. The three closest garages are the Chestnut Centre Garage on Chestnut Street, the Brown Hotel Garage on Third Street and the Fifth Street Garage on Fourth Street.
It depends on the performance you are attending. Many performances are family friendly, and all guests must have a ticket for entry. Some events may be oriented towards an older audience. In this case, the guidelines will be clearly listed before ticket purchase. At the Louisville Palace, IDs will be inspected to make sure all attendees are over 18 or 21, depending on the show.
