Toyota Oakdale Theatre

'Toyota Oakdale Theatre'

'

Originally built in an alfalfa field in 1954, Oakdale was part of the theatre-in-the-round fad that saw many circular stage venues open across the Northeast. Owned by a single family for decades, Oakdale served mostly as a summer stock venue that presented popular musicals of the time featuring big Broadway names. By the '60s, the venue became the place for summer concerts featuring Paul Anka, Tom Jones and Harry Belafonte in large, open-air crowds, live on a spinning stage. The current Oakdale theatre was built in 1996. Since then, it has hosted acts such as

Sting

,

Bruce Springsteen

and

Jerry Seinfeld

along with shows like

Riverdance

and

Suessical

. Toyota Oakdale Theatre tickets are available at StubHub.
