Citi Field
Citi Field is where the New York Mets play their home games. The team moved over from Shea Stadium once Citi Field was completed in 2009. For many years prior, the Mets had been pushing to have a new stadium built. It took several years of negotiations and political maneuverings before the city of New York finalized its plans. In its first few seasons, the ball park was known for favoring the pitcher because of its large field and high left field wall. Changes were made in 2012 and in 2015 to make it more friendly to hitters. Citi Field can fit 41,922 guests in its green seats, and it's held lacrosse and soccer games as well as concerts. The stadium has a convenient location near the Whitestone Expressway and Grand Central Parkway. There are five parking lots directly surrounding the venue, and there are five more general parking lots outside the fence line of Citi Field. Parking lots open three hours prior to the start of the event. Preferred and VIP parking is available for additional fees.
Aside from walking and biking, there are a number of ways to get to Citi Field games. The Q48 bus runs right by the park, as does the 7 train. The Long Island Railroad runs trains that can take you directly to the park from Penn Station, Woodside and stations along the Port Washington line.
If you arrive early, check out the Mets Hall of Fame & Museum. This is next to the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, and it's filled with Mets memorabilia, including World Series trophies.
There are many types of premium seats available. The First Data Club, the Sterling Level, the Hyundai Club and Porsche Luxury Suites are some of the exclusive areas that feature luxury seating and accommodations. Dining and drink packages may vary.
The venue welcomes children of all ages, and any child under 32 inches may enter for free. There is a nursing room, and family restrooms are found throughout the park. Strollers can be checked in at a Fan Assistance Station while you're seated.
Traditional concessions are sold at Citi Field events so fans can enjoy hot dogs, nachos and popcorn while watching the game. Fitting for a stadium in a major metropolitan area, there are also more unique offerings. For instance, Catch of the Day sells lobster nachos, Destination Dumplings serves up Asian-inspired dumplings, Pizza Cupcake has savory delicacies, and Nicolleta has a hearty meatball hero on its menu.
