The William Saroyan Theatre is a performance venue in the Fresno Convention Center complex. It is home to the Fresno Philharmonic, Fresno Grand Opera and Fresno Ballet. In addition to hosting regular performances given by these local groups, it also hosts touring productions of Broadway shows, comedians, magicians and other headliners. The first William Saroyan Theatre at Fresno Convention Center performance took place in 1966. More recently,
David Copperfield
and
Jerry Seinfeld
are some of the big names that have taken the stage at the theater. Over the years, it has undergone a few renovations to ensure that the lobby and seating areas are comfortable and welcoming. Purchase your William Saroyan Theatre at Fresno Convention Center tickets at StubHub.
The address is 730 M Street in Fresno, and the cross street is Inyo Street. The theater is directly across the street from the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel.
The bulk of the the William Saroyan Theatre at Fresno Convention Center seating is found on the orchestra floor. Above the floor level are the lower and upper level balconies, with the upper level being the larger of the two. There are a total of 2,351 seats, with some of them being accessible to people in wheelchairs. Just outside the auditorium is an extensive lobby. The North Lobby and South Lobby both have concession stands, and restrooms are located in the West Lobby.
During each performance, up to 92 people with William Saroyan Theatre at Fresno Convention Center tickets can request an assistive listening device system. These systems rely on precise microphones that can capture all of the sounds from the stage. Transmitters send that audio signal to wireless receivers that send the information to individual ear speakers or neck-loops. These devices are available free of charge.
The on-site parking is located off of O Street, directly behind the neighboring
Selland Arena
. Another lot you can park in is the City of Fresno parking garage, which is right behind the Saroyan Theatre. Other lots may be nearby and open to theater patrons. Metered street parking may be available, too.
There are a few restaurants in this part of Downtown Fresno. The Cosmopolitan Tavern & Italian Grill serves cocktails, sandwiches and steaks, and it is right around the corner from the theater. A few blocks away are Joe's Steak House and Grill and Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Company Beer Garden. Both are popular gathering spots for pre-show dinners or post-performance drinks.
