Phoenix Symphony Hall

Phoenix Symphony Hall - Cultural Classics in Downtown Phoenix

The Phoenix Symphony Hall is a performing arts venue located at the Phoenix Civic Plaza in downtown Phoenix. It's home to three of the region's premier arts and cultural organizations -- the Phoenix Symphony, Ballet Arizona and Arizona Opera -- and presents a wide variety of concerts and shows.

Phoenix Symphony Hall History

The Phoenix Symphony Hall, along with the rest of the Phoenix Civic Plaza, was completed in 1972. In 2004 the venue underwent extensive renovation as part of a larger, $1.5 million project to modernize the neighboring Phoenix Convention Center.

Phoenix Symphony Hall Events

The Phoenix Symphony Hall schedule presents performances almost every weekend, all year around. The venue is notable as the home of the Phoenix Symphony, the largest performing arts organization in Arizona, which offers classics, pops, specials and family concerts every season. Arizona Opera produces five grand operas each year, along with other concerts and programs. Ballet Arizona's classical dance performances are another highlight of the Phoenix Symphony Hall calendar. Broadway touring companies and popular musicians and bands representing many musical genres are also regularly featured on the Phoenix Symphony Hall stage.

Phoenix Symphony Hall Seating Layout

The Phoenix Symphony Hall has 2,312 seats, with ticket buyers offered a choice of main floor, balcony or pit seating. Regular audience members praise the venue for having no bad seat in the house. The 2004 renovation of the Phoenix Symphony Hall gave it state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, including all-wood-based chairs for supreme acoustics.

Phoenix, Arizona

In addition to the Phoenix Symphony Hall, Arizona's capital city boasts a number of excellent performing arts venues. Among them are the Herberger Theater, the largest performing arts venue downtown; Talking Stick Resort Arena, which offers large concerts; and the Orpheum Theatre, a historic venue just a short walk from the Phoenix Symphony Hall.

Phoenix also offers its locals and visitors a variety of top-notch museums. Among the most visited are the Phoenix Art Museum, the largest museum for visual art in the Southwest United States; the Arizona Capitol Museum, housed in the oldest part of the state house dating back to the Arizona Territory era; the Arizona Science Center; and the Heard Museum of Native Cultures and Art. Golfers can enjoy a round at one of more than 200 courses in the greater Phoenix area. The Phoenix Zoo is a popular destination for families. Camelback Mountain, the Phoenix Botanical Gardens and the South Mountain Park desert preserve are delightful outdoor destinations, especially during cooler months.

Trivia

The Phoenix Symphony Hall has been designated a Phoenix Point of Pride, earning it coveted status among a handful of landmarks and monuments chosen to represent the best of the city.
