Rupp Arena Tickets
Home of the
University of Kentucky men's basketball team, Rupp Arena is located in the heart of downtown Lexington. Designed to host basketball games, it has an official seating capacity of 23,500. This makes it the largest arena in the U.S. among those built specifically for basketball. It opened in 1976, and it was named after Adolph Rupp, a former coach who led Kentucky from 1930 to 1972. The court that the athletes play on is called Cawood's Court, which is named after local broadcaster Cawood Ledford. The Kentucky basketball team has a storied history, and it has built up a strong fan base. The arena is known for being very loud, and the team attracts some of the largest crowds in the nation. Other than hosting men's basketball games, Rupp Arena has also hosted
women's collegiate basketball, hockey and arena football games in addition to concerts. You can find Rupp Arena tickets at StubHub.
What is the Rupp Arena seating arrangement like?
The arena is divided into an upper bowl and a lower bowl. In the lower section, the chairs have seat backs, but the upper sections are mostly made of bleacher bench seats. During basketball games, students are packed into the eRUPPtion Zone, a standing-room area behind one of the goals. This standing-room area as well as the bleacher seats up above allow for more spectators than the official seating capacity suggests. More than a dozen games have been sold out with more than 24,000 people in attendance.
