Ron White grew up in Deer Park, Texas. He served briefly in the United States Navy where he famously picked up the nickname Tater Salad because he liked to eat the hearty side dish. He has been pursuing stand-up comedy since 1986. White became famous as part of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour as people were fascinated by White's hard-drinking, cigar-smoking presence. White's persona is relatable and feels real with an intelligent, authentic, straight-talking vibe. His comedy is observational and mostly takes the form of storytelling as he uses his time onstage to talk common sense about family relationships, consumer goods and more.
Ron White got his first big break from the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, but he didn't have much in common with those comedians. Whereas
Jeff Foxworthy
and Larry the Cable Guy are comfortable in jeans, Ron White always looks dapper onstage in a suit. Though the group tour is how White got famous, he has been touring solo as a headliner since 2004. He has a scotch-drinking, well-dressed elegance that recalls superstars of the 1970s. On stage, White may be upscale, but he is never out of touch with the common man. Some of his most famous bits reference Texan attitudes about crime, dismay at the rising price of consumer goods and security checks at airports. White still feels a kinship with soldiers and sailors, and his
Comedy Salute to the Troops
raises funds for the Armed Forces Foundation.

His comedy is relatable and complements Ron White's comedic style perfectly.
