'Phish Tickets'

'When Phish did its first gig together in December 1983, it had no idea what a devoted following it would end up cultivating. Like the Grateful Dead before them, Phish fans often follow the band from concert to concert throughout the year. Barring a short hiatus from 2000 to 2002 and a break-up period from 2004 to 2008, Phish has released albums and toured the world for more than 30 years. It is known for its eclectic musical style, extended jams and blending of musical genres as well as its on-stage musical improvisation. With more than 8 million records sold in the US alone, the band stands out. Rolling Stone has even called it the most influential band of the '90s, and Ben and Jerry's has had two types of ice cream named after the band - Phish Food and It's Ice...Cream.'

'Phish: I Saw it Again This Summer'

'Phish got off to a rocky start. It performed its first gig at the University of Vermont on December 2, 1983. After this, it didn't perform again for more than a year due to the suspension of guitarist Trey Anastasio for a prank he pulled at the university. From 1984 to 1990, Phish performed at various clubs and functions. During this time, it released albums The White Tape, The Man Who Stepped into Yesterday, Junta and Lawn Boy. After the release of Lawn Boy, Phish was signed by Elektra Records. It has released nine studio albums and 15 live albums since then. '

'How long is a normal Phish concert?'

'A normal Phish concert runs from around 2.5 to 3 hours, with the first set being between 60 to 80 minutes and the second set running between 90 and 100 minutes.'

'Where is Phish playing?'

'Phish has concerts planned all over the United States in 2019 and 2020. It also will be heading to Mexico for a four-concert tour called Riviera Maya in February of 2020.'

'What does Phish's setlist look like?'

'One of the reasons so many fans love Phish is because of its improvisation on stage, so you never know what you might get to hear at a Phish concert. Some of its most-played songs include "You Enjoy Myself," "Possum," "Mike's Song," "Weekabaug Groove" and "Chalk Dust Torture."'

'Who are the members of Phish?'

'Phish is currently comprised of four members, Trey Anastasio, Jon Fishman, Mike Gordon and Page McConnell. In 1986, founding member Jeff Holdsworth left the band to pursue electrical engineering as a career. Two songs he wrote, "Possum" and "Camel Walk," remain fan favorites. He also appeared on stage with Phish in Albany, New York, at the Pepsi Arena in December of 2003, one day before Phish's 20-year reunion.'

'Where did the name Phish come from?'

'There are many theories as to why the band came up with the name Phish, and different explanations have been given over the years. One explanation given is that Jon Fishman misheard someone asking him the band's name, and thinking they were asking for his, gave his nickname, Fish. Subsequently, the "ph" was added to make it more memorable.'

'What other bands are similar to Phish?'

'While Phish is often compared to the Grateful Dead, more modern acts such as Widespread Panic, Umphrey's McGee and the String Cheese Incident are comparable.'
