The first reported game for the Ohio Bobcats was a match against Marietta. Despite suffering a huge loss of zero touchdowns to Marietta's eight, these humble beginnings helped shape the Bobcats into the team fans love today. The Bobcats have been around for about 125 years, and they have posted at least 500 wins in all that time. They have appeared in 12 bowl games, including both wins and losses in matches such as the
Frisco Bowl
and the
Dollar General Bowl
. It took the team some time to establish itself during the early years, but the Bobcats exploded in 1906 with a sweeping and victorious season thanks to the help of Arthur McFarland as the new coach. The legendary era of the Bobcats didn't begin until 1924 with the hiring of Don Peden. Peden's style of coaching would leave a huge impact. It is his name that adorns the stadium that the Bobcats call home. Peden has the longest tenure of any Ohio coach and racked up 121 wins for the team.

Mid-American Conference

Frank Solich has been the head coach at Ohio since 2005. Solich garnered early attention for his high school football career, but he wasn't tall or big enough to get any serious looks from college scouts. His trainer at the time helped him get a spot on the
Nebraska Cornhuskers
at the time. It was a good move and Solich became a star player during his time there. He went on to coach Nebraska before being offered the position at Ohio. For the 2012 season, he led the Bobcats to an overall victory of 7 - 0.
''Yes, the Ohio Bobcats have received one national title over the course of the team's history. The Bobcats claimed this title under the leadership of Bill Hess as the 1960 National College Division champions. The Bobcats managed to outscore their opponents a whopping 269 - 34 for an easy win.'
'The Ohio Bobcats finished the 2018 football year quite strong. They garnered an overall record of 9 - 4 in their favor and avoided any ties. Player Louie Zervos scored the most points for the season at 107.'

The Ohio Bobcats play the home games at Peden Stadium. It is named for the longest-serving coach in the history of the team. The stadium was renamed in Peden's honor following his 1946 retirement. The venue is large enough to seat 27,000 fans. Many football enthusiasts say that it is one of the best places to host college ball games in terms of the natural beauty of the area. It is also an official historical site for the state. A 2012 game against
New Mexico State
saw the venue's largest attendance so far.
