A dominant presence on the metalcore scene since their formation in 2009, Of Mice and Men have an ever-expanding and loyal fan base, as evidenced by their rampant social media following and more than 20 million hits on their YouTube channel. Comprised of members Aaron Pauley, Phil Manansala, Valentino Arteaga and Alan Ashby, Of Mice and Men have both headlined their own concerts and played alongside the likes of Macklemore and Arctic Monkeys.
Of Mice and Men was founded in Columbus, Ohio, through the efforts of original members Austin Carlile and Jaxin Hall. The band derived its name from the classic John Steinbeck novel of the same title. After an extended search for new talent, Of Mice and Men relocated to Southern California to join up with three promising prospective members from that region.
The band got its big break when it recorded a cover of Lady Gaga's Poker Face, which landed Of Mice and Men a contract with Rise Records. Their 2010 self-titled debut scored a No. 3 spot on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart, and rose to No. 12 on the Independent Albums chart. Their sophomore album, The Flood (2011), rose to No. 5 on Billboard's Independent Albums chart and No. 28 on the Billboard 200.
The 2014 release of the aptly titled Restoring Force marked a comeback for a band that had struggled to create new music in the face of recurrent lineup changes. The album topped the performance of any other to date, achieving a peak position of No. 4 on the Billboard 200.
