Though it was the 1930s when the NCAA Tournament began, it was the 1980s when the general format we have today got started, and over the decades the Tournament has emerged as one of the most highly anticipated sporting events of the year. Great players like Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar), Wilt Chamberlain, Carmelo Anthony, Hakeem Olajuwon, Anthony Davis, Steph Curry and many more have made names for themselves before heading onto star on the NBA level, and you just never know when the next all-timer is going to burst onto the scene.
Tyus Jones became the fifth Duke player to win the Most Outstanding Player Award when he led the Blue Devils to a title in 2015, while Christian Laettner was the first. In 1991, the Blue Devils fully broke out as a national powerhouse when Laettner guided Duke to the first of two straight national titles under legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski. Duke games always make for popular NCAA Tournament tickets, as the program is one of the most popular in the nation.
