Tennessee's second largest city, Memphis, is famous internationally as the home of blues music. This storied older city is vibrant with history, arts and culture and an absolute must-see for travelers passing through Tennessee.
Take a stroll along Beale Street -- also known as the Home of the Blues -- and you have your pick of any number of bars and clubs where live music spouts out at all hours. Some of the most notable places include B.B. King's Blues Club, Tin Roof and The Handy Park Pavilion. Grab yourself a massive beer and wander the streets (yes, that's allowed here) to check out the various musical offerings of Beale Street.
Looking for something more theatrical? Opened in 1928 as a movie palace, the Orpheum Theatre is one of the best places in town to see Broadway-style musical productions today.
If sports are your thing, you can see the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies play at FedExForum -- also an excellent spot to catch nationally renowned touring acts. Baseball fans will enjoy seeing the Memphis Redbirds, a triple-A St. Louis Cardinals affiliate, play at AutoZone Park.
