Located in the downtown area of Miami, Florida, the James L. Knight Center has hosted many events from politics to entertainment since its 1982 opening. Named after newspaper publisher James L. Knight, the complex, which was originally supposed to be an exhibition hall for trade shows and conventions, now hosts a variety of events such the graduation ceremony for Miami-Dade College. It has even hosted Miss Teen USA, Miss USA and Miss Universe. After a decline in Miami's business environment as well as the failed partnership with the University of Miami, the use of its auditorium by the FIU Sunblazers and later the
Miami Hurricanes
helped to revitalize the center. Today, the James L. Knight Center hosts performances by popular musicians such as

The James L. Knight Center provides parking for guests via surrounding lots and garages. Parking spaces may be reserved in advance. Parking facilities such as the Miami Parking Authority give a discount to patrons of certain events that are held at the Miami Tower. When exiting the garage, just let the parking attendant know what show or event you were at in order to receive the discount. Valet parking is available as well and is handled by Central Parking Systems and owned by the Hyatt Regency Miami.
Cameras with an interchangeable lens, including GoPros, are considered professional cameras and therefore are not allowed. Of course, this does not apply to press with the proper credentials or any photographers or videographers hired by the facility or artist themselves.
Neither food nor drinks from outside are allowed in any events at the James L. Knight Center. Any attendees that attempt to bring in outside food or drinks will be asked to place it in the trash or leave it inside of their vehicle.
Yes, the center is accessible to disabled patrons. The elevator, which is located by the box office, is also available to help patrons go from one level to another.
The James L. Knight Center does not allow smoking. This policy is strictly enforced as patrons will be forced to leave the facility if they violate it.
While rules can change depending on the performing artist and their requests, some items are not allowed. Weapons such as knives and mace are strictly prohibited. Other items such as large bags, laser pointers, recording devices and glowsticks are also not allowed.
The James L. Knight Center seating is available to more than 4,500 attendees and the stage area is 16,000 square feet.
