Electric Forest is an annual music and arts festival held in Rothbury, Mich., each summer in June. It is one of the largest music festivals of its kind in the country, combining multiple genres across at least seven official stages. The festival is as popular for the grounds itself as it is for the artist lineup. It is held at the Double JJ Resort, known for its sprawling woods filled with extremely tall Cedar trees. Annually, you can expect
String Cheese Incident
to perform at least three days of the four-day festival since they are the hosts of the event. The lineup is then rounded out with a plethora of acts focusing on jam bands and electronic music.
Because of the growing interest and capacity crowds, Electric Forest switched to a two-weekend format for two years in 2017 and 2018. This move was successful when it came to tempering the massive numbers the festival draws each summer. Eventually, the festival decided to return to a one-weekend format in 2019. The first year for the Electric Forest festival was in 2011. A similar event called Rothbury Music Festival was held on the grounds in 2008 and 2009. Electric Forest is co-produced by Madison House Presents and Insomniac Events.
The ideal place to purchase tickets to Electric Forest and all other music festivals is at StubHub. Stubhub.com is the largest online marketplace for sports and concert tickets on the web and there is even a mobile app, making it even more convenient to shop for tickets.

Yes. This may be what the festival is most known for. The woods are filled with art installations and interactive exhibits. There are enough that you could spend the entire weekend looking for them and still never run out. There are also secret rooms spread throughout the festival, including a speakeasy and a disco.
The festival is known for hosting some of the most relevant acts in jam and electronic music. This includes the annual performances by String Cheese Incident. Other artists that have performed at the festival include
Bassnectar
,
Lauryn Hill
and Big Gigantic. There are around 80 acts on the festival lineup each year, ranging from international touring acts to local bands.
Electric Forest has music on the main stages from around 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. After that, after-parties take place at pop-up stages and smaller stages around the festival. The music is known to go until 6 or 7 a.m. There are also silent discos where listeners can dance to DJs on headphones without creating too much noise.
The festival is a four-day event, starting on the Thursday of the weekend it is being held and going through Sunday night. Campers may camp on Sunday night and leave on Monday morning. The gates generally open at noon on the first day of the festival unless a patron has an early-entry pass.
