The Duke Blue Devils are known for two things: dominating the opposition and graduating almost all of their athletes. Ever since Wallace Wade famously left his coaching position at Alabama for Duke in 1938, the team has had a legacy of success, integrity and excellence.
Wallace Wade Stadium
is known as a football landmark and has even hosted concerts by the Grateful Dead and the
Rolling Stones
. Duke sends many of their players to the NFL and has produced Hall of Famers like Sonny Jurgensen, Clarence Parker and George McAfee. The Blue Devils saw a sharp downturn after the 1980s, but current head coach David Cutcliffe is quickly bringing them back to their glory days. The stadium was built in 1929 and was renamed in 1967 to honor former head coach Wallace Wade. The stadium has a capacity of 40,000. Wallace Wade stadium saw a record attendance of 57,500 when fans turned out en masse to see a game between the Duke Blue Devils and the North Carolina Tar Heels.'
'The Duke Blue Devils are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference in the Coastal division. The Blue Devils have been a founding member of the conference since 1953. Before then, the team was a member of the Southern Conference from 1930 to 1952.'
'The Duke Blue Devils have won 17 conference titles. Six of these were under legendary head coach Wallace Wade between the years 1933 and 1941. Eddie Cameron helped the Blue Devils win three consecutive titles between 1943 and 1945. Coach William D. Murray brought in seven titles between 1952 and 1962. The Duke Blue Devils' most recent championship title was earned in 1989 and is shared with the Virginia Cavaliers.'
'David Cutcliffe has been the head coach of the Duke Blue Devils since 2008. Cutcliffe is credited with ending a “ ”bowl drought“ ” that lasted 18 years; the team made it to the Belk Bowl in 2012 and faced the Cincinnati Bearcats. Under Cutcliffe's leadership, the Duke Blue Devils have seen six bowl appearances and won the last three. Cutcliffe also helped the Blue Devils retake the Victory Bell, the trophy granted to the winner of the rivalry with the North Carolina Tar Heels. David Cutcliffe is currently working with the Blue Devils towards their next championship title, an honor the team has not received since 1989.'

The Duke Blue Devils have a fierce rivalry with the
North Carolina Tar Heels
. The two teams still disagree about the results of an 1889 game; depending on who you ask, North Carolina either leads 58-36-4 or 57-37-4. The Blue Devils and the Tar Heels play an annual game for a trophy called the Victory Bell. With the help of head coach David Cutcliffe, the Blue Devils have held the Victory Bell since 2016. The Duke Blue Devils also maintain rivalries with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and NC State Wolfpack.
''The Duke Blue Devils are known for both graduating their athletes and sending them on to play in the NFL.
