The Colonial Life Arena is located in the heart of Columbia, South Carolina, near the Congaree River. It's the official home of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks men's and South Carolina Gamecocks women's basketball teams. The arena opened on Nov. 21, 2002, and was simply called the Carolina Center. The Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company, a subsidiary of the insurance company Unum, bought the naming rights in 2003 and renamed it to the Colonial Center. The current name was adopted in 2008 as part of a rebranding effort by Unum. The Colonial Life Arena has an approximate capacity of 18,000 people for basketball games. It has also hosted numerous events and concerts, including Elton John, Nickelback, Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Is Colonial Life Arena accessible by public transportation?

Yes, Colonial Life Arena is accessible by both train and bus. The Columbia station, which is served by Amtrak's Silver Star train, is located only a few blocks from the arena. The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority also operates several bus lines to and from the arena.

Does Colonial Life Arena have on-site parking?

There are several parking lots located within a few blocks of the Colonial Life Arena between Assembly Street and Blossom Street. Parking is only available on the day of the event and not in advance. Parking spots are sold separately from Colonial Life Arena events. The price is set by the owner and operator of the lot.

Does Colonial Life Arena offer enhanced disability access?

Colonial Life Arena features numerous accessible parking spots in most of the lots around the arena. They're available on a first-come, first-serve basis. A drop-off spot is available directly in front of the building. The arena is wheelchair-accessible through the main entrance on College and Greene Street. Wheelchair-accessible elevators provide access between all levels of the arena. All restrooms are designed to accommodate disabled guests as well. Accessible seating is available and must be purchased ahead of time. For hearing-impaired guests, assisted listening devices are available at the guest services booth in the main lobby. Interpretation services must be arranged ahead of time. Guide dogs and service animals are allowed too.

The arena features 38 luxury suites on the main concourse level. Private parties and large corporate community events can be enjoyed in one of the four entertainment suites or the club area. Catering is also available.

Are any items prohibited inside of Colonial Life Arena?

The arena bans all noisemakers, laser pointers, magnifying devices, large umbrellas, confetti, aerosol cans, outside food and beverages, water bottles, coolers, leaflets or brochures for distribution, strollers, fireworks, skateboards or roller blades, folding chairs, beach balls, professional cameras and equipment, video cameras, selfie sticks and laptops.
