Fun fact about the Chicago Cubs...

The Chicago Cubs franchise has quite a story to tell about the legendary, “Curse of the Billy Goat”. Multiple generations of Cubs fans grew up hearing this tale and the older fans suffered through it in real time! It all began when Mr. William Sianis, owner of the Billy Goat Tavern, brought his pet goat, Murphy, along with him to watch Game 4 of the 1945 World Series. The fans seated near Sianis were annoyed by the goat and Sianis was asked to leave the stadium. As he left Sianis loudly declared that the Cubs would “not win any more”. The Cubs subsequently lost that World Series and didn’t win another League Pennant for the next 71 years. Before he died, Sianis tried to reverse his curse, to no avail. The “curse” was finally officially broken when the Chicago Cubs won the National League Championship Series in 2016 and went on to win the World Series against the Cleveland Indians, 108 years after their previous World Series win.
