The BNP Paribas Open features a singles draw size of 128. Players are taken from both the main draw and the qualifying draw. The top 32 players are all seeded based on the overall tour rankings. The No. 1 and No. 2 players are placed on opposite ends of the bracket, while the remaining 30 seeds are placed in alternating orders on predetermined lines.
